about

In February 2021, I was commissioned to record sounds in the palace of Versailles, while it was still closed to the public due to the pandemic. We started recording at night : sounds of footsteps, creaking walls, clocks, objects, resonances, etc.

Around midnight, we went into the royal chapel to record the organ. It was the first time I had the opportunity to play on a real church organ, and after a few tests we decided to record an improvisation, which is here in full on the second track of this mini album.

This moment in Versailles happened on Valentine's Day, very close to the celebration of the 150th year of La commune de Paris in 2021; two events that have apparently nothing in common but somehow have a symbolic and historic connection to Versailles. Versailles as a symbol of romanticism, fantasy and idealization, and Versailles as a historic symbol of oppression, elitism, and brutality.

The recording of the organ was made by Florian le Prisé

The cover is a picture of an abandoned church in Galicia, Spain
